I wonder if anyone does the maths on UK sales of armaments and responsibility for the disruption in peoples lives which causes them to risk their lives, and those of their families, to reach a safer place. Margaret Thatcher famously suggested that unemployed people should get on their bikes and find jobs. Hopefully I do not need to explain this.

Finally – it is not the fault of the French that people try to cross the Channel, they are not French! – so why does the government blame them. Perhaps because we are no longer in the EU and various treaties which caused repatriation to country of departure no longer apply.
