these abusers are not ignorant adolescents who do not know better but people in late twenties through to fifty year olds. I am sure there are people outside these age groups too, but generalisations are always dodgy! They do not seem to be unemployed (booking foreign holidays) or particularly deprived. Just bullies. Unfortunately too many tories (and perhaps labour candidates) see these people as being in their voting group and appease them instead of calling them out.
I am not religious but there is a lot to be said for the values shown by most religions in their mainstream form. One of the main tenets of Christianity, Islam, Buddism, Sikhism, Judaism and I am sure many others is charity and kindness. Unfortunately our society is now about the survival of the fittest (or most corrupt and conniving).
At the start of the Covid crisis we saw communities coming together to help each other – I suspect most of these schemes have disappeared. Replaced by ‘why should I wear a mask that I find inconvenient – especially as it does not protect me and why should I care about you as you are a stranger”.
