APPLE AND SULTANA CHUTNEY

Slice the apples and put them in a saucepan with the garlic and about half the vinegar. Simmer the apples until they are reduced to a thick pulp.

Add the sugar, chopped ginger, sultanas, spices and salt and continue to cook for 20 minutes stirring occasionally. Stir in the rest of the vinegar and cook until you have the required consistency (hard to gauge)

 Makes about 5 pounds.

Just made this – so will know in a month how good!.
