Discussion in village with “I am not convinced by CC” person. After about 45 secs of hearing nonsense I told him I could not waste my breadth arguing the obvious with him in case he told me the Earth was flat and Brexit was a good idea. One way to make friends eh?
WEATHER
MetO predict 80% chance of rain whilst other say none. It would be good to top up the water butts. Not picking tomatoes today – I will leave to John and Linda to do that. I got a parcel ready for Cornwall but Mart is going on the train – which is the best option anyway.
When I started I would make my comment and try to justify it. I have learnt, that just like MP’s statements, the justification bit is pointless. So I am happy calling any Tory a NOB – no justification needed.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
I will talk about what I know. Education. Head Teachers claim wages over £100 due to the responsibility they have. Why then appoint so many people on inflated salaries to delegate to? When I started teaching management was a Head, 3 Deputies (Academic/curriculum, Finance, Pupil welfare). Now there loads and all supported by secretaries. At the loss of teacher hours for students and an increase in gap between teachers wages and management. More money for management = less for each student.
LAWNMOWERS
Lawns do provide space for relaxation and some animals like woodpeckers, but most are vanity projects. The market is estimated at about $3 billion per year. Add in energy costs and the chemicals and we individually pay billions to destroy wildlife. My neighbour sprays dandelions with something horrible despite her husband assiduously mowing it short very 2 weeks. Why – does she hate bees and hover flies?
Environmentalists like to blame farmers, and I assure they contribute to loss of habitat in a large way, at least they are producing food. However the 15-20 million lawn owners are doing their bit to destroy our planet for vanity. The ozone layer was almost destroyed by people using aerosols to smell … often … vile. Vanity again.

WEATHER 19 JULY
It is 0900 and temp is 28C, at 0600 it was 25C. Cornwall has had some rain – unlikely here although I can hope.
TOMATOES- 18 July
250g today. Costings : seeds £7.50; soil £12; feed £8 = about £20. In shops cost of organic toms is about £5kg so I have picked £2.50 so far. Looking good as there might be a kg tomorrow?
A couple of chillies ready to. So sun dried toms with a chillie in could be good?
Tuesday – I just picked another 200g toms. Weds – 200g. Thurs – 50g; total now 950g
Sunday total 1360g Mon -+280g
RWANDA PLAN
The justification for this abhorrence was that it would deter people from the dangerous attempt to cross the Channel/La Manche. 442 succeeded on Monday so plan is a failure – what is the next bullsit from govt to justify?
WEATHER
So today should break records – with above 40C in SE and Midlands. 32C forecast here. 9am and it is 23C inside. Raab the fuc*ing nob says schools should not close and people should be resilient enough to enjoy the sunshine. 64000ha destroyed in Spain, Portugal and France with lots more in Italy, Greece and the rest of Southern Europe and North Africa and at least 10 fires reported in England and Wales. Resilient and enjoyment are not the words to describe these temperatures. Schools can be like furnaces at the best of times with poorly opening windows and lots of glass. Add in 30 sweaty bodies and the situation is ripe for serious problems.
