BREXIT and Sunday musings.

Am I going to say ‘I told you so!” – too bloody right I am. If there is a seamless transition I will …. admit I was wrong. Less than a month of working days to go and we still do not know what is going on. I am stocking up on frozen veg and tinned fish because I like them both!

Car is still on the naughty step despite the efforts of the garage. I disengage internal scanner immobiliser when I lock it (suggested by Martin) which seems to stop the alarm going off randomly. Which makes me think damp got in somewhere – the front windscreen gets very wet with condensation inside in the mornings. Anyway I can live with it as it is, if it behaves itself otherwise.

Cooking – pizza dough rising, pasta simmering. Looking up recipes for something different to bake. Cinnamon buns were cool – but I like to experiment a bit. maybe an apple something with nearly the last of my apples.

Covid – I think most people are following Cummings example and doing what they want! For most this is probably eminently sensible. Unfortunately there seem to be many who follow the governments advice – you can go to a pub/ restaurant does not mean that masks and social distancing, etc. can be ignored. The trouble with these jerks is that they reinforce their dodgy ideas with similarly minded idiots on social media. And then that prat Brady – who talks about freedoms in an individual setting, rather than a social one. I am sure he has private health insurance and certainly does not have to go to work on public transport or share a crowded house. He can stop work for ever probably without worrying where the rent is going to come from.

Unemployment seems to be inevitable for hundreds of thousands. Wow, this is interesting! Not in a ghoulish way, but how our society is possibly going to be radically changed over the next few years.

Shopping – online seems here to stay. High Streets will perhaps revert to times pst with local artisan shops? It would need a progressive council to reduce rents and council tax, but could be worth it? A high street with no betting shops (on line), no charity shops (not needed), no financial banks or building societies, etc. (online), no phone shops (on line), would be a wonderful thing! Local cafes with different products, local shops with niche products – it could be brilliant.

Delivery firms need to go electric fast, and I suspect there will be mergers soon to make them like the Post Office/Royal Mail? On which the Royal Mail really should be coming up with some Christmas show stopper stamps and a deal for cards this year! They could sell Christmas Cards with ready printed stamps on the envelopes and could be really xmasy? – sometimes I have good ideas!

Well pizza dough should have risen by now – quite a lot of thyme in it. I am out of olives though! Passata has onion, garlic, sun dried tomatoes, my tomatoes, and shop tomatoes – I guess it is tomatoeee! Basil and parsley to garnish pizza, and chorizo. I think I will add some spinach! Then parmesan and cheddar. And some pepper. And maybe a bit of is it/or isn’t it hot chilli!

Right, so tomorrow is veg and fruit shop at Draycott – expensive but outside and produce is fresh, and I want some avocados and lemons to make mayo. And lots of vegetables generally. I also need to go to Scoop and Spice in Winscombe.
