Cool, so I get a text asking me to book, so I do at 10.20 on 15 November. In Singapore people without vaccination will pay the full cost of treatment. Vaccine passes being tightened in Wales and France.
HILARIOUS and SABATICALS FOR MINISTERS
Dominic Raab thinks it is important to have someone who has some knowledge of what is going on in BVI. General consensus in even the nasty party seems to be that serious questions need to be asked about his commitment to constituents. I suspect that he charges about £1000 an hour and therefore rationalised that he should only spend 70 hours a year dealing with constituents.
JOHNSON’S TIME RUNNING OUT
With the Daily Mail and The Times running front page articles about the sleaze in the Tory Party I suspect that our PM may soon retire and make a profitable living with after dinner speeches and (to him) witty newspaper articles. Unlike other ex-PM’s he is unlikely to be asked about policy or anything intelligent! It is possible he will head for a safe haven with no extradition treaty with the UK.
Elon Musk
Just noting this – he is selling 10% of his stake, worth $21 billion, following a twitter poll. 3.5million voted! Why? Who cares? He is just having fun before having to pay a bi tax bill and repay some loans in August. He will still be worth , sorry I will rephrase that, his financial wealth, will still be around the $300 billion mark. Although that is probably just Monopoly money as he could not cash it all in at that price – could he?
JOBS
Appointments to top jobs with salaries funded by the tax payer should go to the most able and qualified for the post. Common sense? Not for this government where top posts go to those who fund the nasty party. Some jobs require intellect and judgement, and yet they are being chosen by dimwits like useless Eustace who will select the new head of OFWAT to ensure that they continue to pump human shit into our rivers and seas. It seems the sole role here is to decide what is a fair return with dividends to shareholders, and to keep water costs within manageable levels, and shit on the environment.
SLEAZE 2
106824
The number of domestic flights taken by ministers and civil servants last year – 293 per day! Who is hosting the summit on the climate change crisis – remind me! Why did anyone from the ONS need to fly domestically? Let alone 2055 of them. No wonder the government halved duty on domestic flights to £6.50 – a quick calculation makes that nearly £1 million saved!
SLEAZE
I am sure Johnson is technically correct in how he has declared his Marbella holiday. It was just poorly timed and rather a crass thing to do when so many are feeling the pinch of financial changes. His flat refurbishment may be another issue altogether as he seems to think he is above the law and appears shocked that anyone could question him – Boris aren’t I lovable Johnson.
WEEPING!
In 1976 I started teaching about climate change. But Nadhim Zahawi seems to think he has a new idea about introducing it to the curriculum. I think there have been thousands of hours put in by teachers to enlighten our students about climate change. But maybe we were too polite and avoided pointing the finger at the politicians and industrialists who are destroying the quality of life on our planet.
COVID
Some positive thoughts. They UK medicines regulator has approved an oral antiviral drug – molnupiravir for use for people with mild infections soon after a positive test. This along with the new French vaccine offer greater protection from the ravages of the first wave of the pandemic. It is now imperative to get all these advances out to the poorer countries and hopefully prevent any new major new variants.
