Almost back to Septembers figures. Whole of England in the south is below 100 apart from Ealing, Slough and Swindon. Brilliant to see rural areas with 2 or less cases, and also good to see Bristol falling by 40% in the last 10 days, as a city like that can become a reservoir for re-infection. Another week of falling numbers will make opening up schools perfect sense. I think a future hazard in schools will be the lack of ventilation on those cold damp. days when the windows are covered in condensation. Guidance on wearing hoodies or thick jumpers in class and opening all the windows between lessons would be good, if rather cold! The comparison between the northern cities and London is striking. We know there is poverty and deprivation in London, so why are the infection rates significantly lower? I cannot think of a logical answer. The vaccine role out is also a factor, or is it? I am correct in thinking the vaccine prevents the virus from getting a hold, rather than preventing it totally? If so it would seem that a lot of people are being very sensible at the moment!
