Right wing wankers (because that is what they surely are?) put this down to increased feminism and growth of LGBTQ awareness. And the reason you cannot get a girl friend is because you are a massive twat! Stop victim blaming women – hopefully we have seen the end of the days when a judge dismissed a rape case because the girl hitch hiker had a short skirt on! Women have had the vote on equal terms in the UK since since 1928. However as recently as the 1970’s (and to me this is quite recent) that women could have a bank account without parental permission. They were also barred from the public bars of many pubs. However it is not just the generation of sad old fuckers who yearn for the past when a woman stayed at home and looked after the children, cleaned and cooked! Few girls when I was at school had aspirations above their place (Although my school was not on par with Chelmsfrod High School for Girls – still a top performing state school).
I have heard old men recently talk about the nonsense of woman’s lib! I am also fairly sure they do not fall into the category of perpetrator or even overt misogynist! They live in the fantasy world where everyone respects each other and everyone knows their place in society and is happy with it! Lalala land – they are not happy when I suggest that there would be no need for a police force or prsions – yes they are in the lock them up and throw away the key brigade (they are not aware that ‘they’ might be their sons or nephews!.
So I get onto the Reform Party – who say the Andrew Tate is an important roll model for young men. I begrudgingly accept the important word in the context of popular and therefore should not be dismissed without concern or thought. However to use the word without criticism is bordering on incitement to pervert a generation. I am sure Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao tse Tung, Mussolini were all important in tat they gain a populist following. But in no way was their basic message correct. Reform MP’s have come out and said that the Policemean who lost his cool, and kicked an unarmed man on the floor with his hands behind his back, should recive a medal! This is what happens when a subservient press (including it seems members of the BBC) do not allow proper consideration of facts and a discussion of what punishment the policeman should receive? I will not judge him, but there should be some punishment which may include retraining or even dismissal – my time doing law showed me that facts are never as simple as they are set out in papers for halfwits.
Back to women and abuse. Much of the increase must be down to the prevalence of porn – the mega IT companies with their billions of profits have let society down badly. They could police the internet without much difficulty, but refuse to do so on spurious freedom of speech grounds. Just like their supporters would say that I have no concern from spy cameras and increased ID checks if I obey laws – but they fail to see the contradiction when I suggest that they have nothing to fear from laws that restrict people from preaching views that also breach laws (perpetrators can only be prosecuted if caught – very difficult with a tangled web!).
Unfortunately for those whose brains have not developed since nursery “Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.” is not true!
Can I put the balme down on the horrific diatribes of Braverman? Or just the whole ethos of the current Conservative Party? How many would use the words “care”, “empathy”, “fairness”, “kindness”, “humility”, or even “justice” to describe the past government. I should stop wanging on about them – but whilst the damage done by their mindless acts of vandalism are still impacting on our society there needs to be a context created for the problems.
TBH – I as a man wonder what else can be done to create a just and fair society? Consigning certain journalists and politicians to the septic tanks they thrive in, and then ghoting them would be a start. Men are not the sole bread winners anymore – suck it up!
Oh fuck me – I occasionally have random thoughts that can be good?
Is the rise in misogyny related with the almost perfect correlation in the demise of pubs? And here I have to confess! Marriages breakdown most often for reasons related to both persons. My marriage was rather doomed by our age and lack of real compatibility (was getting married the right thing as she was pregnant – absolutely and the children are wonderful without an iota of regrets). But I did escape to the pub throughout my marriage (we had not been married a year before she admitted she fantasised about sex with a teacher up the road! No blame, there was just never real love between us (my sense of duty , to marriage and the children made it last longer than it should have done). And as I appear to be slagging her off I will say forcefully that she was a brilliant mother to small children. Marion, Martin and Tamsin could not have had a much better first 4 years.
I digress! With the lack of communication let alone love, I was able as a bloke, to go to the pub to escape whilst she was left alone with the children and her dreams (whatever they were?). So I am guilty, BUT, and not an excuse, society had a release valve for men! I would convince myself that I deserved a pint or two as a bread winner and so felt no guilt or hardship. Shirley was left at home with TV and the kids! I am soo sorry in retrospect, but that is how it was!
So has society moved on? The pub is now shut (or unaffordable). Men, boys have had to come to realise that despite Hollywood, men are not always te hero’s. How do we change this for our teenagers? The Olympics is always fucking amazing – and looking forward to Tahiti and surfing! The opening ceremony was .. good 8/10 a little to disjointed and I would have loved to pursue the 3 little children for much longer! Barcelona was my best memory of an opening ceremony (Uk was brilliant was dismissed as I am biased) and then the choreography of Bejing was amaxing too. I just love the flags.
