Now the Houses of Lords has flagged up the need for urgent action. Good meaning labelling and taxation of foods is ok, but we need a radical look at our lifestyles. Fast food restaurants are seen as a place to eat not meet! Nice saying I think! The Tesco way – pile it high and sell it cheap. Most restaurants expect a 3 hour max turnaround.

And also it comes back to farmers paid to produce the cheapest possible food. Perhaps we never had a love of food like those in Mediterranean climes? I love my xmas dinners with the whole family, sitting round the table for a few hours and chatting. Unfortunately this is once/twice a year (Not xmas – silly!).

The design of houses is generally; a small kitchen with breakfast bar if lucky, a dinning area which will fit 4 at a push, and a lounge orientated around a large TV set! Then an on-suite for every bedroom – which are way too large in my humble opinion. And every house is similar – house builders seem to have got their median likes and modal likes muddled. OK so 70% like the current model – but that means 30% would prefer something different! In fact why are new houses built before being sold? Should builders offer a dozen or more designs (not difficult with technology) and enable a variety of building materials, etc. Probably not that more expensive unless the driving force is margins!

If I was as rich as Musk/Gates/etc. That is what I would do – design an optimal living/working/playing environment. – “Wot like them in medieval times”/. Local industries/farms/blacksmiths/joiners/bakers, etc; a village green for sports (male only then!) but a hard court area for basketball/netball/5-aside/handball and a green area for cricket and a play area with picnic tables and bbq? This is not rocket science – just common sense. Teenage pursuits will probably change but a skateboard park – cafe – hang out area would be good? Not rocket science! What do the planners put in? Fast food convenience store, hairdressers, soulless pub, chippy or other takeaway.
