GAS CONTROL FREAKS

Time to diversify away from fossil fuels and dependance on Russia and Norway. Subsidizing solar panels is a quick and easy fix for part of the problem. No upfront costs for the government and a subsidy that probably makes it cheaper than most other fuels. Wind energy is, as we all know, not totally dependable. Again grants to landowners for small scale HEP might also help a bit (and possibly help reduce flooding). Geothermal is possibly slowly becoming viable. Tidal energy should be feasible, although schemes like the Severn Barrage will probably remain too expensive and environmentally costly – but governments are obsessed with the large scale. reduction in fuel usage is also vital and again a relative cheap and politically correct (levelling up) way of reducing bills, it also has the benefit of being locally labour intensive so generating a multiplier effect in local areas – and remember that the government takes £50% of basic income back via tax.

Some answer would be for a variety of smallish schemes local funded and situated. Government should back off and stop being control freaks.
