GEOGRAPHY OF POLITICS

In many ways this areas is fairly unique with large numbers of small business owners (`band B), and white van drivers. This mixed with large numbers of retired, large numbers of those in financial peril due to recent house purchases means it is fertile ground for those stressing financial management and lower taxes. However Bristol and Bath are showing signs of remaining labour and green.

So areas where the tories spend on job creation will become blue, whilst the commuter towns maybe move to red and green? Just as Labour can no longer guarantee the northern cities, maybe the tories will find the shires moving away from them?

Whilst the narrative of Brexit at the time may have been one with migration to the fore, this has been skilfully turned to be about sovereignty. Whether this will stand up to criticism that is bound to come from higher prices we wait and see. The whole fishing industry situation is not going to be solved anytime soon. Nigel Farage will climb back into his silk lined sewer. Doing deals has proven much more difficult that I think even the retainers predicted. OK, this has been made worse by Covid, but the geography of transport costs is obvious to even the most innumerate and spatially challenged student! Inflation is set to rise, which will be bad for all public sector workers as the government is in big debt. Prices are rising due to transport and admin costs at the moment, but longer time rises are on the way as metals and rare earths increase in demand. Petrol prices will probably go up soon due to Middle East tensions. Russia is not becoming anyones buddy soon. Already the greens in Germany are accusing them of a smear campaign due to the greens opposing a new gas pipeline to Russia. It is hard to see China becoming anyones buddy either due to their human rights record. In the past that would have been an issue for the trendy left, but I think is becoming more main stream with greater internet coverage? I am not sure how much Hong Kong influences people in the UK? We had a 99 year lease which has run out – !!!!
