The COP26 was no surprise but a decent government with decent people would be planning for the 2.5C increase. Some countries do not have this ability, some countries are too busy producing goods for us that we probably do not need but are committed to. I would like to think we do.
So ‘clown’ – what is the plan ?? I suspect the ‘plan’ is to talk about terrorism and the invasion of immigrants from France (like it is their fault that places like Libya and Syria are f***ed). It could be a new competition – how many days before any senior government minister mentions climate change again?
But seriously I think the political map has been redrawn to some extent – so therefore a sensible government would be making arrangements. On a practical level I guess the Thames Barrier may need an upgrade at a cost of at least £1.5 billion. Coastal erosion is serious in many places.
Wildlife extinction is perhaps the most frightening aspect of all? The number of wild birds has decreased by hundreds of millions – not just a statistic, but one we have all the ability to see for our own eyes if we look.
