SETTING AN EXAMPLE

New Zealand orders 3 day shut down, 7 days in Auckland after one case (now there are 11 cases). 22% of adults are fully vaccinated, with all who want it expected to be vaccinated by the end of the year. There have been reports of transmission of the virus after just a 20 second door opening.

Schools are asking for air filters in all classrooms by September to reduce transmission. I mentioned this about a month ago having read that it is being done in NY and Belgium. With 2 weeks to the start of the new school year it is unlikely that Williamson will have finished colouring in his holiday colouring book, let alone planned for the new school year. With many schools near major roads this makes even more sense. Is it really 40 years since reports of pollution caused schools in East Sussex to close their playgrounds next to major roads due to pollution levels (then it was lead) and nothing has improved. I would ask how many people are employed by the DoEducation and whatever it is now rebranded as, and ask what do they actually do? Funding etc. is by formula or algorithm, schools are either local authority or academies whilst the independent sector appear to be beyond OFSTED etc. anyway. The exam system is outsourced to Pearson, etc. What exactly do they do? I just googled it – they have 6 yes SIX ministers.

According to their website “The Department for Education is responsible for children’s services and education, including early years, schools, higher and further education policy, apprenticeships and wider skills in England”.. What is their definition of the word responsible for? Responsible equates with accountable in most business settings. So whether devolved to schools or trusts, free schools or private, the buck stops at Williamson’s desk?
