But wait until they turn on the tap or flush a big load and nothing happens. It is not rocket science to suggest that we need more reservoirs to cope with the hundreds of thousands of new homes. Or even the growth in population. All it will need is for there to be a drought (not particularly major – just similar to the ones we have had in the last 50 years). Then the Tories will. be churning out words like unprecedented, unpredictable, whilst ensuring that the water company shareholders continue to get their dividends.
It might not happen next yer – or the year after, but be sure it will happen. And the water companies will plead ‘act of god’ and a defence, whilst lining their boots.
