Many of these deaths too were preventable and avoidable had the government imposed sensible precautions instead of putting industry and profit first. I am sure David did many good things, he also voted for and supported actions that resulted in deaths (Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.). So yes we should mourn his death, but please keep it in perspective. Many doctors and nurses died during the start of the pandemic without this tsunami of publicity and faux grief.
Whilst on the subject – the British Government was behind the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Indonesians in the 1960’s, the death through famine in India (well done Winston), the Irish Potato famine (well done British Aristocracy and landowners), the slave trade, 1950’s Kenya, Highland Clearances in Scotland, etc.etc. And OMG the Queen cannot go on for ever – the nation will come to a standstill (I think this is already planned) – and I will be castigated for not really caring about someone privileged toff whom I did not know or care about.
