Of greater interest is the way the police handled protesters handing out leaflets. Peaceful protest is a democratic right. Is a place where 80000 people have congreated still private property in all senses? If a protester pays for entry what rights does that impose of the owners and the visitors. To what extent should the police be acting as free stewards? Those trespassing on the course is clearly wrong and `I think covered by the same law that prevents access to the pitch in football matches.
The Mail predictably went for woke vegans in its headlines. Sloppy journalism again – I am sure many vegans do not agree with the protestors. As for Woke – they have adopted the Goebbels mantra of “Say it enough times and people will believe you”! – they want to be able to classify hage groups of people as Woke. I have more sypathy for the more nuanced moniker of “Politically Correct” – which has been extremely silly at times. Although again being politically correct to prevet harm or distress to others would seem to be reasonable.
