COVID

Some positive thoughts. They UK medicines regulator has approved an oral antiviral drug – molnupiravir for use for people with mild infections soon after a positive test. This along with the new French vaccine offer greater protection from the ravages of the first wave of the pandemic. It is now imperative to get all these advances out to the poorer countries and hopefully prevent any new major new variants.

MR UTURN

The Guardian today lists more than 30 U Turns under Johnson’s leadership, if it can be called that. Basically his modus operandi is to say whatever comes into his small brain with conviction and enthusiasm. When the public turn against an idea he ditches it for the opposite with conviction and enthusiasm. This has cost us, the tax payer £ billions, and cost thousands of lives.

MAGIC

Golden lemon verbena leaves, crushed and soaked in boiling water, add finely chopped ginger, lemon juice and honey. Then some brandy and reheat and enjoy!

U TURNS

Maybe some MP’s should feel very stupid this morning as the government U turned. I guess we should be thankful that our democracy has rejected this attempt at undermining its foundations.

SLEAZE

Why the shock? It is highly likely that this was a pre-emptive strike to cover up the sleaze of the past 2 years as government contracts for millions were handed out without proper scrutiny. If it was about natural justice there would have been no whip needed.

HURRICANES, CYCLONES, TYPHOONS

Tropical Storm Wanda is probably the last of the season which has been one of the busiest on record, although most activity has avoided landfall, with the notable and destructive exceptions of Fred, Grace and Ida. 21 named storms were recorded this season which is the 3rd highest recorded.

COP26

I weren’t much cop at English at school, but I do understand the difference between action and vague promises. Johnson’s metaphors must be interesting after a date, more I will be in touch rather than see you at 5pm tomorrow at Claridge’s. Oh well, now the initial bullshit from world leaders is over with for the next 10 days or so I can ignore what journalists are try to make a story out of, when one does not exist.

PREMIERSHIP WEEK 11

Join the fun here, no prizes, just satisfaction – although my abysmal performance so far has given me little of that! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aCaqoJJAJwSTkD4zo6_gePntyZAcb4_TFmVn8yaNO2E/edit#gid=0

COP26

Johnson is happy to say he is constant touch whilst on a beach abroad but not on a train from Glasgow to London? Actions speak louder than words.
